what’s new?
So here I am - again. Another revamp of the site. Is it just a burst of intensity? Or actual consistency this time? I guess time will tell. All I know is that for now, I have been losing my interest in deathscrolling social media. As a visual artist, Instagram has been one of the only places I show my work. Unfortunately, I’ve found it to be lacking in a lot of things to be considered a digital “home” for my work. I’ve found that it has its uses but is certainly no place for pure authenticity. It’s just not made for that.
Here, however, I can do whatever I want. SAY whatever I want.
Rubber baby buggy bumper. See? No one read that but me.
Next item: What’s the plan? Well, the plan is really just to make this a nice place to be. I did have a store in the last version of the site which will be back up very soon. I had a vendor change, anyway, so taking that page down with all the others seemed appropriately timed. However, with the new vendor, I’ll have more products available. All things in due time, though.
When it comes to new projects and ideas, I actually have a huge list of things that still have to be made. Photos, paintings, jackets and collages all have designs and details that have been planned for a while. Really, they’re on a list I have called The Heart of the Art. Any time I have an idea for a creation that I refuse to forget, it gets written down there. There’s a lot and the list is always growing. So, no shortage of ideas and plans for all sorts of wonderful creations. But as wonderful as making things is, the other side of my work has needed attention badly.
See, I have this dream that I can eventually sustain myself entirely with my art. It goes even further than that, but I’ve learned to move silently, so no more details there. In order to get there, I need to do more than just make the creations. I have to have a way for people to see them in the way that I want them to be seen and sold. Hence, more site work.
Building a site can be a big deal. A big undertaking. But I figure a little something every day is what it needs. One of the things I’ve had to remind myself of is the amout of the work I already have done. Although these things may seem “old and outdated” to me, because I’ve seen them a million times, other people haven’t. And other people haven’t seen the perspective of my creative processes. So what better things to have here than that?
Aside from new site work, I have a painting in the works. That’s all on that. I have 5 fashion magazines that need to be hacked up for collage stuff. I have a bag full of color and black and white film that I would love to shoot. I’m then reminded of how used to cancellations I am.
Good thing I still have lots to do.
