Thanksgiving Day Update

Time for an update, I say. First, happy Turkey Day. I don’t need to go into the ugly history of the holiday, but I am aware, and hoping you are having a good day off from work. I know I am. Art stuff, mostly.

Usually, I write my blogs based on my camera. I photo dump my P50’s memory card into the PC and let the pictures tell the story about the art stuff I’ve been creating, but as I’m looking through the pics from this round, there’s mostly pics of projects at work (e.g. flooring, painting exteriors and interiors, etc). After I finished the Joan Rivers paintings, I ended up having to remount 3 of them and do touch-ups. I didn’t decide to do that until about a week or so after I did them the first time. There were some ripples that didn’t fully come out and needed help. Since some of the eye-pulling things were close to the frame, that’s why I decided tp pull them from their frames and do everything off-frame. Also, I did end up having to remake a frame. After taking one of the Joan paintings off the mounting frame, I noticed the frame itself was pretty bowed at one corner. A knot at just the right place caused a bow after cutting and sitting for a bit. So after remaking the frame, today I finally remounted the last one and did final touch-ups.

I’ve already started workin on the next piece. I’m going to paint Alan Rickman. Right now, I’m just primering canvases and selecting the source image. You’ll hear more on that in the next blog, I’m sure.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today.

Since I have to post some kind of recent pics, enjoy some captioned randoms from the last couple of weeks…

Till next time!

I recently re-insulated an attic. This was in the window. I had to take this pic. Creepy, eh?

A pile of flooring job debris.

This is a bowl on a pedestal in my friend’s front yard. I liked how it screamed autumn in an artistic way. Captured.

After chopping up 2 magazines to add to the collage supplies, I loosely organzied them into their categories. Without any planning or trying, just where they end up lying can end up being something I want to look at for more than a second. Captured.

Lastly, little old me.
